How to use and address auto open door (AOD) function issues on your Samsung refrigerator

The Auto Open Door (AOD) functions helps you open the refrigerator door more easily, even when your hands are full.
When the sensor area on the door is touched using the back of your hand or fingers, the door opens automatically.
The door opening angle typically ranges from 80° to 120° when the refrigerator is properly installed and levelled.
Note: The actual opening angle may vary depending on environmental conditions such as floor level, installation surface, and the weight of items stored in the door bins.
On certain models, the Auto Open Door function is turned off by default.
The method for turning on the Auto Open Door function varies depending on the main panel type of your refrigerator.
1. Main panel - General type
For general type, you can turn on the Auto Open Door function using the main panel located inside the refrigerator.
Use the < or > buttons at the bottom of the panel to select Auto Open Door and then turn the function on.
2. Main panel - Family Hub type (This product is not currently available in Hong Kong.)
If your refrigerator has a Family Hub type main panel, you can turn on the Auto Open Door function from the Home screen on the front of the door.
Fridge Manager > More icon > Settings > Auto open door
3. Main panel - AI Home Hub type
If your refrigerator has an AI Home Hub type main panel, you can turn on the Auto Open Door function from the Home screen on the front of the door.
Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Quick Panel.
Setting > Refrigerator > Auto open door
You can turn on Auto Open Door function and change the door option to match your preference in SmartThings.
In SmartThings, you can change the auto open door option to match your preference.
Issue 1. Both doors do not open wide enough
If both doors do not open wide enough, the rear sides of the refrigerator may be low.
To level the refrigerator, raise the rear sides using the provided level adjustment pad.
Issue 2. Right door does not open wide enough
If the right door does not open wide enough, the rear-left side of the refrigerator may be low.
Raise the rear-left side to level the refrigerator.
Issue 3. Left door does not open wide enough
If the left door does not open wide enough, the rear-right side of the refrigerator may be low.
Raise the rear-right side to level the refrigerator.
Issue 4. Doors open too wide
If the doors open too wide, the front sides of the refrigerator may be low.
Raise the front sides to level the refrigerator.
Note:
Do not hold the AOD sensor area when opening the door.
(Pulling the door while holding the AOD sensor area may cause the sensor to become detached.)
